Why people wear makeup? You will hear lots of answers. But most times, you will hear we wear makeups for ourselves. Some people think women who wears makeup tries to mask themselves, hide some sort of emotions. I don't disagree. But while makeup can cover people, it can also discover a new self. 10 years ago, if I was asked why I wore make up, my answer would be : to make myself look better, to boost my confidence, to feel better. Now, with time passing by, I realize that underneath the fact that feeling better, having a daily makeup routine is my meditation. It gives me a piece of mind to concentrate on myself, discover, and love myself.
Meditation doesn't mean sitting still with your eyes closed. Same, your daily makeup routine doesn't have to be hectic and same. I used to wonder why I like creative makeup so much? Then I realize that it actually helps me find a new side of me. Applying your makeup slowly and precisely can be scar. It means that you have to pay attention to all the details you used to ignore. You noticed the smallest change on your body everyday, the result can be pleasuring.
I put makeup everyday even when I don't go out. Like today, I tried to put on a smiling face since I have been feeling gloomy recently. It is also called Resting b face makeup. First, I used concealer to cover the dark corners of my mouth. I also used highlighter to highlight the top of my lips as well as my laugh lines. I used nude color lipstick first to draw a lip shape that I want it to look like. To be more precised, I used lip brush to refine the outline. Then I apply the color I want to use with the lip brush. On my bottom lip, I tried to make it rounder and thicker. Then I used concealer to make the shape more profound.
while I was applying my makeup, a strong feeling hits me and I started crying. I know sometimes, the source is unknown. and i dont really need to find out why. The more I try to figure out with my head, the more I get stucked in the situation. So I watched it, felt it and let it go. I kept on applying my makeup until I finished.
No body is perfect. It is ok to have emotions. Makeup doesnt just make us look better outside. It helps clear our minds, which makes it so much easier to reflect the outer beauty.
